Let's get to know her
Q: Coffee or tea?
A: Both, expert level caffeine double-fister.
Q: Guilty pleasure?
A: Aggressively lip syncing (bonus points for adding a disturbing snapchat filter), watching angry rich people on Bravo, never missing an opportunity to insert "that's what she said" into casual conversation.
Q: What are you listening to lately?
A: Glass Animals, Alabama Shakes, and the Magic Lessons (w. Elizabeth Gilbert) Podcast.
Q: Who are you crushing on?
A: My husband because he continues to put up with me and support my weirdness. And also, Wes Anderson Films, Barack Obama, this awesome Fall weather, and anyone who will bring me tacos.
Q: Current mantra (or phrase, or Affirmation...)?
A: “I want to live and love recklessly. Fly higher, drive faster, feel too deeply and act on things in spite of fear. I want to be out of control, laugh to no end, meet more strange people, make memories when I’m least expecting it, settle less, and see things that are beautiful and unusual. Taste new foods, and fall in love with as many things and people as possible. I want to learn, and I want to question things more. Because, my god, our time to live is limited, and I swear, good enough never is.” —J. Raymond
What makes her a boss
Q: What do you do?
A: Well, my business is called Michele Suits Photography (I know, creative, right?). I specialize in natural portraiture and wedding documentation. My main areas of focus are body-positive boudoir photography and unscripted family sessions. Someone once described my style of photography as "like a warm, sun-drenched memory," and that really stuck with me. I would describe my work as free-spirited, honest, and nostalgic.
Q: Tell us about a project you recently wrapped
A: I was just in Austin, TX for 2 weeks and shot a look book for Daisy Natives, one of my my favorite t-shirt brands! In terms of not-quite-wrapped-projects, I have a pretty big list of varying things. I have a tendency to dream up more projects than there are days in a week, but it keeps me going creatively.
Q: What makes you go to work each day?
A: An insatiable need to create, passion for evoking emotion, and anxiety about letting moments slip away. Out of a long list of interests, photography is the only one I've found so far to fill that void in my soul. When I walk away from it and try to pursue something else, I always end up coming back, in one form or another. I eventually just put up the white flag and jumped in head first.
Q: Tell us about a dream project or client.
A: Hmmmm that's a tough one. I think my dream client would be a woman who hired me to travel and take portraits of her in different parts of the world. Ideally someone who could jive with my weirdness — I'm going to shoot for the stars here and say J. Law. Emphasis on the 'dream' part. But I could get down with that life.
Q: What made you decide to host a Lady Boss?
A: I was told there would be snacks. Just kidding (or am I?). We just moved into our studio a few months ago, and we are really excited about opening our space to a group of creative, entrepreneurial, kick-ass lady bosses! Positive vibes all around :)
