Interview with Amazon Retail Consultant Megan Stanczak
We asked Megan Stanczak a few questions about her life as the owner of Stanczak Retail Consulting.
Tell us about your business!
Megan: My business is called Stanczak Retail Consulting, and I help product-based businesses navigate the Amazon marketplace. Selling on Amazon can be complex and stressful for small businesses. My experience making Amazon work for private-label brands helps me bring them calm and clarity. I know what works and how to do it: from effective keyword optimization to a successful brand launch.
What accomplishment are you celebrating right now?
Megan: I've been creating and organizing branded content and training materials that I routinely send to my clients for consultation, so that I can begin using this content to create e-courses and digital products to sell. Organizing this content has been daunting me for months, so it's a big weight off my shoulders.
What keeps you motivated?
Megan: I'm a people person. It's why I love helping small businesses. Working as a consultant and small business owner lets me get to know clients on an individual level. I use my expertise to offer them steady and sustainable growth and I develop meaningful relationships in the process.
What's one tip you want to share with other entrepreneurs?
Megan: Two years ago I was working at a small company, wanting to move to a large corporation where I would have more growth opportunity. I thought that's what I wanted, but when I finally made the move I was like "GET ME OUTTA HERE ASAP." The corporate world was not for me. It was a rough emotional ride coming to this conclusion, but if I didn't make that failed move I wouldn't be where I am now — and I really love where I am now. So, I guess just keep moving until you find whatever it is you're looking for, and try not to beat yourself up too much in the process.
What's your favorite app or resource of the moment?
Megan: Trello! I use Trello all the time especially to manage client work — it's essentially a fancy, easy to manage online "To-Do" list. I set up and share boards specifically for long-term consultation projects, that way both the client and I know exactly what we are both working on at any given time.
What are you listening to lately?
Megan: The Product Boss Podcast! These ladies talk about anything and everything related to running a product-based business. This is a business podcast that is fun (I don't ever feel obligated to listen to them).
What are you crushing on?
Megan: Mutt from Schitt's Creek (on Netflix)! Anyone else??
What inspirational words resonate with you recently?
Megan: "You are not responsible for your clients' success." I saw this quote somewhere on IG a while ago and it has stuck with me ever since. Remembering this helps take off that unnecessary, heavy self-pressure that I can often put on myself.
Where can we find you online?
Megan: Follow me on instagram @stanczak.retail.consulting for Amazon Seller advice and my "Friday Favorites" series where I share new products that I've recently discovered and LOVE, with a goal to promote other small businesses. Check out my website for more information about my services.
